What is the difference between midwifery-maternity center and obstetrics and gynecology hospital?
The midwifery-maternity center must provide only normal labor by Japanese law. The obstetrics and gynecology hospital provide the normal labor but also the labor with any medical complication or Caesarean section (C-section).
Is it true that I have my desirable childbirth such as the delivery with family members or able to hold a newborn baby in a labor room?
We assist you as much as possible. Of course, the family members can stay with you in the labor room, or have be with you at water-pool delivery or delivery at home.
Do you have a pelvic examination?
We perform the pelvic examination at thirty-seven weeks if necessary.
What is the duration of stays?
Typically three to five days. Some may leave for home more quickly depending on the individual situation. In case of short stay, we provide adequate guidance.
What happens if the complications are found?
We spend an enormous amount of effort supporting you for a secure maternity life during pregnancy. However, in case of a medical complication with mother and baby, we contact our affiliated clinic or hospital for examination or guidance. In the event of an actual emergency, we take mother to the hospital immediately.
What is the condition in which I can’t have delivery process in Mejiro Birth House?
A person can’t have childbirth in our Birth House in the following conditions;
○ A person has a history of C-section
○ A baby is in breech or transverse position
(We coach to correct the baby position by exercise,
acupuncture and moxibustion treatment, and more by 32 weeks)
○ A persons placenta is in an abnormal position
○ A person is carrying infectious diseases
○ A person is carrying multiple babies (twins…)
○ A person is experiencing a complicated pregnancy
○ A midwife or medical doctor determines the pregnancy is
in complication
